Nicole St. Pierre was born in Montreal in 1953. A self-taught artist, she has been painting for over 3 decades. St-Pierre has a long list of shows to her credit, held in a variety of places in Canada, including Montreal, Magog, Sherbrooke, Granby, Laval, Outremont, and Ottawa, as well as Florida and Massachusetts in the United States. Over the years, she has received a number of honours: in 1997 she was awarded a commission to create a fresco in a historic building in Tampe, Arizona; in 2002 she was selected to represent Canada in a special exhibition presented in Framingham, in the Boston area.
St-Pierre draws her inspiration from everyday life – from the people, plants, animals and objects around her… While she is particularly well known for her female nudes, circus artists, musicians, and vivid still-lifes, her allegorical animals are presently making their way onto a growing number of canvasses. Her palette, rich and colourful, favours primary and secondary colours, and is punctuated with blacks and whites. Her various means of texturing add visual interest and depth to her work. Nicole St-Pierre’s paintings are part of private collections throughout the world.
